Inside Line Promotions – ATTICA, Ohio (July 15, 2020) – Greg Wilson finished ninth in the Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Hercules Tires standings after recording two Hard Charger Awards and a top-five result during the second half of the spectacle.

Wilson and his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics, DNC Hydraulics and Gear Off Road backed team rallied from 22nd to 12th a week ago Wednesday at Bushcreek Motorsports Park in Peebles, Ohio, and from 16th to fifth on Sunday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, to garner the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars each night.

The fifth-place run was also the second of the season during Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions competition for Wilson.

“We needed that,” he said. “We had two bad nights in a row before that so it was nice to come back and finish Speedweek the way we thought we were capable of.

“Racing a lot is helping us and at the same time the nights we struggled we were trying and learning some things to do to the car that I’m not accustomed to doing. We went too far a couple of nights and then some things I thought would work didn’t. But as a whole I feel like we’re getting more competitive every night. Multiple Hard Charger Awards, good runs and racing with good race cars is making us better.”

Wilson also hustled from 22nd to 16th last Thursday at Muskingum County Speedway in Dresden, Ohio. It was tied for the most cars passed.

“We’re passing a lot of cars, but that’s because we’re starting so far back with not qualifying well,” he said. “We have an idea what to do with that at the moment. For the next week we don’t have enough time to make some of the changes we need to make. We need to get through this weekend. Then I’m hoping some of the things we have worked out will help the qualifying thing. I’m not a good qualifier, but right now we should be qualifying better than we are. We have to figure some of that out. If I can get to where we are second or third in our group with the All Stars and top 15 with the World of Outlaws I’d be tickled to death because I think we can do something with that.”

Wilson’s most recent race was Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park, which hosted the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Wilson maneuvered from 22nd to 16th in the A Main, which was tied for the second-most positions gained.

“For us that’s one of our biggest races of the year,” he said. “Ohio Logistics is a huge part of our team and they are the title sponsor. We moved up in the heat race from eighth to sixth and that got us in position to start toward the front of the B Main. We ran second in the B Main and passed a few cars in the feature. All in all it was a good night for us.”

Wilson is heading east this weekend for All Star races on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and on Saturday and Sunday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa.
