Balog makes 2022 season debut in Jason Johnson Classic with World of Outlaws; All Star Circuit of Champions season opener up next
Hartland, Wisconsin (April 13th, 2022) – After shifting their focus, from the postponed Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions opening weekend in Attica, OH, to joining the World of Outlaws following Friday’s US-36 Raceway cancellations due to frigid temperatures, the B Squared Motorsports finally made their 2022 racing season debut. Bill earned a feature starting spot at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO with the Greatest Show on Dirt.
Nearly 40 cars signed in to honor the late Jason Johnson in the annual Jason Johnson Classic, competing for $15,000 to win feature event. Bill Balog and the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B secured their first feature event start with a confidence-inspiring Last Chance Showdown drive. Bill advanced from the eighth starting position to claim the fourth and final transfer spot executing a last corner pass on their way to the feature event.
“You don’t want to have to run the last chance showdown, but we were able to knock the rust off, put together some good laps and put the CK Contractors LLC, Buesser Concrete, Howard Law, Wayne Corini, CPA, Capitol Senior Services LLC, Rocky Rococo's Pizza, Turn It Up Media sprint car in the show.”
Battling a strong field, a deep starting position and challenging passing conditions on the Lake Ozark Speedway surface, the team settled going +1 spots on the evening and experienced good sensations in their 2022 equipment in advance of the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions season opener.
Upcoming Racing Schedule
B Squared Motorsports and the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B looks to the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 2022 points championship this weekend, commencing the season with Attica Raceway Park’s annual Core & Main Spring Nationals on Friday and Saturday, April 15-16.
A two-time winner with “America’s Series” in 2021, the “North Pole Nightmare” Bill Balog and B Squared Motorsports are ready to hit the road again in 2022, working to outdo last year’s performance that concluded with a fifth-place finish in the All Star driver standings. Balog, who earned his All Star triumphs in back-to-back fashion during action at Plymouth Dirt Track and Angell Park Speedway, accumulated 20 top-ten finishes in 47 point-earning feature appearances, 11 of which equaling fifth or better. Balog is unarguably the most decorated competitor in IRA Outlaw Sprint Car Series history, racking up ten titles before hopping on the All Star trail full-time.
“After learning a ton on the 2021 All Stars tour we upgraded our motor and shock programs with a focus on improving our qualifying to set the tone for the evening. We’ve seen most of these tracks at this point and we are willing to try new things with shocks and gearing setups. I need to be more aggressive in qualifying to compete at the level this team and our sponsors expect,” said Balog.
