All Star Circuit of Champions
Justin Peck wins with late move at Waynesfield Raceway Park
WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (May 15, 2022) - Earning his second Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory in just three starts, Monrovia, Indiana’s Justin Peck capped the three-race All Star swing through Michigan and Ohio with a win at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, utilizing a late move in traffic to get by race long leader, Scott Bogucki. Bumping his career total to seven Series victories, Peck’s winning move occurred on lap 24, diving through turns three and four to slip up and in front of Bogucki by the exit of the corner. Peck showed his nose on a few occasions before earning the point officially, driving on to secure a $6,000 payday in his first-ever Waynesfield All Star triumph.
“I can’t say enough about these Coastal Race Parts guys. They keep plugging away and even when we think we have something figured out, they give me an even faster race car,” Justin Peck said, driver of the Buch Motorsports/Coastal Race Parts No. 13 sprint car. “The bottom really started to clean off and we were able to kinda use that lane to capitalize and get by Bogucki. I knew if I was going to get by him, I was going to have to search around because he was getting a lot better runs off of four.
“I love coming to Waynesfield,” Peck added. “This place is awesome.”
A hard-charging Cole Duncan, who climbed 16 positions during the 30-lap program, chased Peck to the finish, followed by Clauson Marshall Racing’s Tyler Courtney, Rookie of the Year contender, Kevin Thomas Jr., and Wayne County winner, Hunter Schuerenberg.
“The track was starting to clean off and we decided to go back to what we knew that works,” Cole Duncan said following his 16 position charge. “We were right there, but I think we could have been just a little bit better…second sucks.”
While Peck maintained the point, a lot was going on behind him, as the final six circuits would see four podium contenders get caught up in incidents negating all potential for a top three finish. Scott Bogucki and Kyle Reinhardt, who were racing in the second and third positions at the time of the affair, made contact on the front stretch on lap 25 resulting in a caution. Zeb Wise and Cap Henry would also make contact while battling for a podium, again on the front stretch during the first of two green-white-checkered attempts; each driver was forced to retire.
