Tankersley Facing Final ASCS Gulf South Region Doubleheader This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (Aug. 13, 2014) – Channin Tankersley enters the final ASCS Gulf South Region doubleheader of the season this weekend with a 76-point advantage in the championship standings.

Tankersley is slated to compete this Friday at Heart O’Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, and on Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. Both races are co-sanctioned with the ASCS Lone Star Region.

“I just have to stay consistent, finish the races and try to win,” he said. “It’s been a while since I’ve raced. I’ve had a little time to rest and get my stuff back together, but at the same time I’ve sat out for four weeks. I think we’ll be ok though.”

Tankersley has earned a trio of runner-up finishes at Heart O’Texas Speedway the past two years, including once earlier this season.

“We’ve had really good runs there over the past few years,” he said. “Hopefully everything goes smooth and according to plan. I’ve missed out on the opportunity to win two or three of them the past couple of years. That’d be a really cool one to click off.”

He hasn’t fared as well at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, where he has only one career top 10 in ASCS competition.

“I think the best I’ve done up there is I ran seventh last year,” he said. “I’ve been in really, really good positions. I haven’t had a whole lot of good luck at that place, but we’ve always been pretty quick. My goal for that place is definitely trying to win it, but I think we can run top five.”

Tankersley leads the ASCS Gulf South Region with seven top fives and 13 top 10s in 16 races this season.
