Tankersley Salvages Top 10 with ASCS Gulf South Region during Nolan Wren Memorial

Inside Line Promotions – WILLIS, Texas (April 5, 2015) – Channin Tankersley showcased a strong recovery last Saturday at Gator Motorplex, where he ran into bad luck nearly every time he hit the track.

“We blew a motor in the heat race and had to change motors out,” he said. “Then we barely made it into the feature through the B Main. The track was so fast so it was really hard to pass. Luckily we got a good start and got through the field ok.”

Tankersley, who was unable to finish his ASCS Gulf South Region heat race at the Nolan Wren Memorial because of the mechanical problem, rallied from 13th to claim the sixth-and-final transfer position in the B Main. That lined him up last – 20th – for the main event.

“I was running in the top five and a guy lost his brakes and ran us over with about five or six laps to go,” he said. “When he did it spun us out and flattened the right rear. We had to go to the pits and put another tire on it.”

Once again, Tankersley rebounded to rally from the back in the closing laps to post a ninth-place finish.

“We had a great car in the feature,” he said. “I ran right through the middle and the bottom. We had the car super tight and it killed us at first. As the track kept getting slicker we were getting better. Overall we had good speed and went forward. It was just a frustrating night when things didn’t go our way.”

Tankersley, who is tied for third in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings, will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., with the ASCS Gulf South Region and ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints Region.

“We’ve always had strong runs there,” he said. “We were fourth last year and finished second in 2011. I think we were there in 2008 or 2009 and were sixth. I’m looking forward to this weekend.”
