Rilat Slowed by Mechanical Problem While Running in Top Five at Nolan Wren Memorial

Inside Line Promotions – WILLIS, Texas (April 5, 2016) – Travis Rilat put himself in contention last Saturday at Gator Motorplex before a mechanical problem derailed the team.

Rilat opened the ASCS Gulf South Region event by winning a heat race after lining up on the outside of the front row. That earned him a spot in the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 5 during the random draw to start the Nolan Wren Memorial main event on the inside of the third row.

“We were running fourth and had a fuel fitting crack on us,” he said. “The motor just laid down so I pulled right off to keep from hurting it. I think we had a good car to make a run up through there, but that’s part of racing.”

Rilat, who was on pace for his fourth top five of the season and possibly his second win, exited the track just prior to the midpoint of the feature. He was credited with a 20th-place result.

Rilat is slated to tackle Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., this Friday and Saturday with the ASCS Gulf South Region and ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints Region for the first time in his career.

“We’ve been to a lot of new places,” he said. “It’s round and has dirt on it just like the rest of them. I think we’ll be fine.”
