Skinner Looking Forward to Beginning His 28th Year of Racing This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (April 10, 2018) – Marshall Skinner is ready to kick off his 2018 racing campaign this weekend at the King of the Wings III event in Mississippi.

Skinner will invade Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram on Friday and Saturday for the ASCS Gulf South Region and ASCS Mid-South Region doubleheader.

“I got a little bit of a late start this year,” said Skinner, who is beginning his 28th year of racing. “I had a few people that always helped me in the past, but they kind of retired this year. I guess they didn’t actually retire; they just didn’t help as much this year. That kind of put me behind the eight ball a bit and it took me a little longer to get everything ready. But we’re ready to go now. We missed a few shows that I would’ve liked to have run, but nothing major.”

Skinner plans to focus on local shows this season.

“I’m planning on running all of the ASCS Mid-South races this year,” he said. “I think they have about 13 of them scheduled. Then on the weekends they don’t race, we hope to hit some other shows with the USCS Series.”

While Skinner would have liked to have a race or two under his belt at this point to shake the car down, he said he’s looking forward to a big race this weekend at one of his favorite tracks where he’s done well in the past.

“Jackson is probably one of my favorite tracks,” he said. “I ran second both nights at the King of the Wings last year. It’s a pretty good paying show.

“I’ve had real good luck there in the past and I’ve won quite a few races there. I’ve been racing at Jackson since the early ‘90s and developed a pretty good fan base there, too. It’s a fun track that usually produces some pretty good racing and the owners always treat us well.”
