ASCS National and Regional Shows Begin Friday Night
The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV in addition to four regions will see action resuming Friday night.
After a successful showing at Electric City Speedway in Great Falls, Montana the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV will see a pair of nights with the ASCS Northwest Region at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Oregon. Friday July 13th and Saturday July 14th have a scheduled start time of 6pm.
Canyon Region
Returning to Arizona Speedway/ET Moto Park in Apache Junction, Arizona for the fourth time in 2012, the ASCS Canyon Region has seen three different winners thus far with Charles Davis Jr., Josh Pelkey, and Ronnie Clark each taking victories in the Valley of the Sun.
Even without a win in 2012, R.J. Johnson currently stands atop the points by a single marker over Charles Davis Jr. Currently rounding out the podium in Dalten Gabbard with Bruce St. James and Rick Ziehl completing the top five. Brian Hosford, Justin Quinn, Chris Bonneau, Michael Bonneau, and Bob Ream Jr. make up the top ten.
The ASCS Canyon Region is schedule for Saturday July 14th with a 7:45pm start time.
Lone Star Region
A late addition to the 2012 schedule will find the Oil Medics ASCS Lone Star Region at Texarkana’s 67 Speedway on Friday July 13th and Saturday July 14th. Each night will be a stand-alone event featuring a $2,000 to win feature both nights.
Looking for his second championship in a row, Matt Covington holds a sizable 97 point advantage over Martin Edwards with Justin Melton riding third 179 points behind. Claude Estes III and Evan Pardo make up the top five in regional points.
Midwest/Warrior
Pairing for the third time in 2012, the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior and Midwest Regions will see action resume at U.S. 36 Raceway. Marking their third visit to the high-banked oval in 2012, the last visit paired not only with the Midwest but with the National tour as well. In their first visit it was Jack Dover taking the win while Jordan Boston earned high points with the Midwest Region on July 3rd.
For the Warrior Region, high points on June 15th were awarded to Jonathan Cornell while Kyle Bellm earned the high point honors on July 3rd.
Regional points coming into this weekend’s race finds Stu Snyder leading the Midwest Region and Kyle Bellm leading the Warrior Region.
Racing at U.S. 36 Raceway is scheduled for Friday July 13th with racing getting underway at 8pm.
The 2012 season marks the 21st year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
