By Bill Sullivan /Civil War Series Media Relations

PETALUMA, CA (7-23-11) – The Hoosier Racing Tires California Sprint Car Civil War Race Series is bound for the North Bay one final time this Saturday night. The famed Petaluma Speedway will host round 10 of the competitive traveling series for winged 360 sprint cars as the championship remains tight with only four events left in the 2011 season.
The Civil War Sprint Car Series is the premier traveling series for winged 360 powered sprint cars in California and produces higher car counts than any other traveling series in the state both winged and wingless competition. Each Civil War Series event pays out $2000 to the winner and this season the coveted championship is richer than ever before, dishing out $10,000 to the champion alone.
As the tour heads back to the lightning fast 3/8 mile oval located on the Sonoma Marin County Fairgrounds the series soldiers will go up against the powerful Petaluma Posse for the to continue one of the most competitive chases for the championship yet with an extremely close contest for the coveted series title.
Heading into Saturday night, the driver known as Mr. Excitement is sure to live up to his name as he looks to drive his way to undefeated status at Petaluma Speedway this season. Forsberg has won both previous events in Petaluma and his current series point lead now consists of 13 points over Steven Tiner of Visalia. Tiner enters the tenth segment of the series with single series feature to his name and will look to hold off the efforts of Sacramento's Kyle Hirst.
Hirst recently moved into the top three positions and is 32-points out of the lead with a feature win on his season record. Sitting in the fourth position is local track favorite Alissa Geving of Penngrove. Geving is a two time track champion in Petaluma who currently leads the weekly point standings here. She is currently 56 points behind the leader with four top five finishes. Rounding out the top five point standings in former two time champion Sean Becker of Roseville. Becker will look to rebound from the tough luck of two consecutive DNF's in the series.
As the Civil War stars take to the tacky coastal range clay one final time they will be joined by a number of area locals that will look for a win on the track they call home. Geoff Ensign of Sebastopol is a regular top runner at Petaluma who ranks 16th in the Civil War point standings and is expected with the likes of defending Petaluma Champion Bradley Terrell of Sebastopol as well. Chase Johnson of Penngrove is another local that is expected along with Mike Benson of Calistoga, Santa Rosa's Kirk Simpson, Brett Rollag of Rohnert Park, Roberto Kirby of Santa Rosa and many more.
The grandstands for Saturday's race will open at 4:30 with racing starting at 5:30. Adult tickets will be $16, juniors $12 and seniors are $10.
