Blurton Wins Opening Night Of The Wheat Shocker

Bryan Hulbert – HAYS, Kan. (July 16, 2022) Fifth to first at Rolling Plains Motor Speedway, Zach Blurton was the class of the field during Saturday night’s opener to the Wheat Shocker Nationals with the Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford.

Making the race-winning move on the final lap of Saturday 20 lap preliminary event, Blurton relegated Steven Richardson to a runner-up finish. Jake Martens made it to third from eighth, with Ty Williams and Like Cranston making up the top five.

The Wheat Shocker Nationals continues Sunday, July 17. Grandstands open at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00 P.M. (CDT). Grandstand tickets are $10, Senior (65+) are $5, Kids 12 and under, and Military (active or retired) with ID are free. Pit Passes are $30 for anyone 14 or older. Youth (6-13) are $10, and Kids under five are free.

The Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford will be joined by IMCA Stock Cars and Modifieds.
