URSS-United Rebel Sprint Series
THE ROCKET SURGES: Jeremy Huish Goes from 8th at WaKeeney to Win the Opening Night of Speedweeks
WaKeeney, Kansas 7/11/2024 (www.urssracing.com) - The United Rebel Sprint Series presented by RacinDirt.Com kicked off night one of the speedweeks tour Thursday night at WaKeeney Speedway. With twenty-three drivers making the trip, the night was anything less than spectacular.
After preliminary action was complete and a top 8 redraw, Ray Seeman and Tyler Knight were slatted to start the 25-lap race. The green flag dropped and Ray Seemann took off with the early race lead.
Five laps into the the race, Steven Richardson got spun out, collection multiple cars in turn two. On the restart, Seemann was able to hold off the race lead for a moment, but three laps later, another caution was thrown for a slow car on the track.
On the restart, Jeremy Huish, who started the race 8th, was sitting in the second position. Once the green flag came back out, the "Rocket", waisted no time. With a move on the high-side coming out of turn two, Huish was able to get wheel to wheel with Seemann down the back stretch. Heading into turn three, Huish had the preferred lane and it was history from their.
"It would of been tough if this thing stayed green" said Jeremy Huish after the race. "This thing was on rails, I think we could of moved through lap traffic, but the yellow flags defiantly helped tonight" he added.
With the win tonight, Jeremy Huish now ties Ray Seemann for 8th in the All-Time wins list at 12 URSS Feature wins each.
