SWEET SWEET VICTORY: Koby Walters Dominates the Opening Night of the WheatShocker Nationals

Hays, Kansas 7/12/2024 (www.urssracing.com) - Night two of the United Rebel Sprint Series speedweeks tour made its scheduled stop at RPM Speedway Friday night. With it being the opening night of the WheatShocker Nationals, twenty-five race teams made the trip to the 3/8 mile track.

Once preliminary action was complete and the top 8 fan redraw concluded, Conner Thomas and Steven Richardson were scheduled to start on the front row. With the drop of the green flag, it didn't take long for problems to persist.

With three initial restarts, the field was finally able to complete a few laps of green flag action. Once the filed took the green flag, Koby Walters made a move to the inside of Conner Thomas going into turn 3. Thomas slid high and left the gap open, ultimately handing over the position to the Walters Irrigation #33.

The red flag came out on Lap 7 for a incident with Justin Chaffin getting upside down. Chaffin was abele to exit the car under his own power.

On the lap 8 restart, Koby Walters took off with the lead, as Zach Blurton started to make a late race charge. Restarting from outside the top 10, Blurton was able to race his way towards the front, but inevitably did not have enough time to catch Walters.

"Once we got that first start out of the way, I knew we had a car to do something" said Koby Walters after the race. " You really have to take the opportunity when its their and honestly the car was super good tonight" he added. "I think momentum and confidence is the key in sprint car racing, and anyone of these guys can win any night, so this defiantly helps boost our confidence for sure".

With his win tonight, Koby Walters now grabs his 7th win with the United Rebel Sprint Series Tour, tying Adam Trimble in the All-Time Wins list (12th).

The 2024 United Rebel Sprint Series Tour returns to RPM Speedway in Hays, Kansas on Saturday, July 13th to conclude the WheatShocker Nationals before the series heads to LaCrosse on Sunday.
