ASCS Patriots Venture West For Holiday Weekend Tradition
Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (May 24, 2010) - On a holiday weekend instituted for reflection on great service, the ASCS Patriots plan to put on shows that will live in the memories of all of those that are present for years to come.
Some of the drivers will look to build on memories created at Sharon and Eriez Speedways from past years while others will look to erase memories of races gone wrong.
For the second consecutive year, Ohio’s Sharon Speedway and Pennsylvania’s Eriez Speedways pair up for a pair of Holiday Weekend ASCS Patriot events, all of which pay $2,000 to win. These four races, along with the Patriot stop at Clinton County Raceway, will comprise the Mike Emhof Motorsports King of OH/PA.
Saturday’s event at Sharon is sure to involve strategy and horsepower. A track known for top speeds while still having the ability to slick off, the 3/8-mile dirt track gem always finds a way to produce great racing.
Trevor Lewis has won at Dave Blaney’s track on two occasions, and has run in the top-five in two of his three other starts. The two other full-point Patriot events have been taken by the Breen Brothers, Blake and Bobby, who have both won it in dramatic fashion.
With Sharon running sprints weekly, familiar Patriot runners such as Jared Zimbardi, Scott Bonnell and Kyle Moffit have plenty of knowledge about the track. Also expected to invade on the weekend are Gary Edwards, Chris Shuttleworth and Gary Kriess.
The next night, after a travel up the road about an hour, Bobby Rohrer’s Eriez Speedway will once again welcome in the Patriots for a fourth consecutive season.
Eriez showcases some of the tightest races of the season, helping to draw large crowds each time the Patriots visit Northwest Pennsylvania.
Bryan Howland captured his 2009 Championship in style last September as he held off Bubba Broderick who fiercely challenged the No. 51 for the entire 25-lap feature. Tim Kelly also had a solid run that night and is closely stalking Howland for what will become the points lead.
Don Adamczyk should also be in the mix as Eriez is the site of where he nearly scored his first win but came up just two feet short. Adamczyk’s 100th consecutive start with the Patriots was also at Eriez.
Chris Mulheisen, T.J. Newton and a host of others expect to be at the 1/3-mile oval on Sunday Afternoon.
