Inside Line Promotions – GREENBRIER, Ark. (Nov. 19, 2018) – Jordon Mallett recorded a career-high nine victories on his way to winning the USCS Series national championship for the second straight year. The native of Greenbrier, Ark., also earned the Deep South Thunder, Mid-South Thunder and Southern Thunder regional titles that the USCS sanctions.

“It means quite a bit to us to win another title,” he said. “We set out last year just to win a title and we did that. This year we just wanted to win races, with the mindset that if I did my job in the shop and in the seat that the points would take care of themselves and they did. I was really pleased that we were able to improve from last year and sweep the entire series. I didn’t really get caught up in that during the season. I just worried about the win column. It did get a little bit close at the end and I realized that I needed to focus on the points a little bit because we were in too good of a position to throw that to the moon until we had fully wrapped it up.”

Mallett showed great consistency all season, finishing among the top 10 in 42 of the 45 USCS races, with 29 of those being top-five performances. Overall, he garnered 45 top-10 finishes in 48 starts with 30 top-five performances. One of those strong runs came in the finale of the Short Track Nationals at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., where Mallett finished a career-best sixth against a star-studded field.

“We only missed being in the top 10 three times all season and of those three times I either pulled in or crashed trying to win a race,” he noted. “We were top 10 every night, other than those three and in those races something drastic happened. I’m really, really pleased with that. It gives me a lot of satisfaction because those stats include the big shows we ran. It really shows the consistency we found and how everything is working together. I’m very happy with the results, not just the wins and the championships, but the stats overall. To be in the top 10 all but three times is very encouraging to me.”

Mallett picked up his first win of the season in April at I-75 Raceway in Tennessee. He followed that up with victories in May at Flomaton Speedway in Alabama and at Southern Raceway in Florida. In June, Mallett was triumphant at Swainsboro Raceway in Georgia and at Columbus Speedway in Mississippi. The month of July found the 25-year-old in the Winner’s Circle at Dixie Speedway in Georgia and at Greenville Speedway in Mississippi. Mallett continued his winning ways in August at I-75 Raceway. The final victory of the season for the driver of the No. 14m came in September at the Talladega Short Track in Alabama.

“I started the year off wanting to at least win as many races as I did last year,” he said. “More than that, I wanted to be in the hunt each night. If I couldn’t win, I wanted to be running second or third. I wanted to be somebody that they knew when I pulled up to the race track was someone that could win. That was more of my mentality. I wanted to win as many races as possible and keep this car on the podium or worst-case, a top five every night.

“In the sprint car racing game, everything is so competitive and so if you can consistently run in the top three or top five, then you are doing things right. I wanted to be a very consistent contender each night. I’m a realist as well and know that you can’t win every night. I just wanted to be in a position where at least I could think I could win every night and know that we were competitive with the winner each night.”

Being a true racer, Mallett was already thinking about next season, even before he returned to his shop after the season finale at Bubba Raceway Park in Florida. With less than three months until the 2019 season kicks off in Florida, Mallett is hard at work.

“We have already started getting ready for next year,” he said. “We got in late that Sunday night and by Monday we already had cars and motors out of the trailer. The offseason tear-down process has begun. It seems every year like the offseason gets shorter so the ball is already rolling to try to get everything lined up. We are busy in the shop and look to stay busy for the next couple of months.”

Mallett would like to offer a special thanks to his wife, Madison, his parents, the entire team and all of his sponsors for their hard work and support in 2018.
