HENRY RYDER RETIRES FROM USAC’S BENEVOLENT FOUNDATION

Long-time USAC board member and USAC Benevolent Foundation President Henry C. Ryder of Indianapolis, Ind. was honored March 6 on the occasion of his retirement from the foundation. A special commemorative plaque was presented to Mr. Ryder following the group’s annual board meeting.

In additional board action former USAC President Rollie Helmling assumed Presidency of the Foundation while former USAC, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar Medical Director Henry Bock cited health concerns as the reason for his resignation from the board.

Long-time photographer Dr. Harlen Hunter of Bedford, Ind. was also elected to a position as a member of the foundation board and was introduced to those gathered at the meeting. An additional board member is expected to be added later in 2013.

Executive Director/Secretary William Marvel, entering his 30th year with the Benevolent Foundation, also announced that Ron Green was named Vice-President and Josh Laycock was added to the Executive Committee. Ray Linton has also returned to his position as Treasurer.

The USAC Benevolent Foundation has administered for the past two decades a woman’s golf tourney and a go-kart race which have generated funds for the organization. The “Fun at Fastimes” annual go-kart endure is scheduled for this Saturday, March 9, in Indianapolis, Ind.
