Brady Bacon – Return to Lawrenceburg on Saturday!

(Bill W) September 29, 2015 – Brady Bacon and the Hoffman Racing #69 team will return to the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Indiana this Saturday night with the USAC National Sprint Series. The Broken Arrow, Oklahoma driver competed in all four divisions of the 4-Crown at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio last Friday and Saturday. The results saw a mixed bag that was highlighted by a top five finish with the USAC Silver Crown Series Saturday, with a DNQ with the World of Outlaws Saturday as a low.

Brady was in the Paul Martens #48 for Silver Crown action. “We were fastest in hot laps and qualified third,” he says. “It was the last race of the night. The track was getting to be ‘not Eldora’ anymore. The middle was good, and it was hard for a guy to run the top and still get around them. There was enough speed through the middle that you couldn’t fly by them on the top.”

Still he persevered for a fifth place finish. “It was just a little different type of racing than what I’m used to there,” says Brady. “It took a little bit of an adjustment. We were happy to get a top five.”

In the USAC sprint car division, Brady timed in fourth quick as the defending champion of the event. The heat race saw some trouble, however. “We got caught up,” he says. “I spun trying to slide a guy on the last lap. We were able to win the B. That put us starting seventh in the feature.”

More misfortune found him in the main event. “We went up top and they guys running the middle started pulling away,” says Brady. “I went to the middle and got into the fence. It flattened the right rear and broke the jacob’s ladder. We changed the tire, but we couldn’t change the jacob’s ladder. We kind of rode around after that (checkering 21st).”

Brady competed in the Felker #37 in midget action on Saturday. “We just didn’t quite have the speed we needed to keep up with some of those big motor teams,” he says. “We ended up finishing 12th.”

The Hoffman Racing #69 team is looking forward to getting to Lawrenceburg Saturday. They’ve picked up two wins this season at the high-banked 3/8-mile oval. One was in weekly competition, while the second came with USAC during Indiana Sprintweek.
