Indiana Bound!!

With NO racing here in So Cal due to the pandemic, The Moose Team loaded up the rig and headed east to compete with the best of the best in Indiana. The last time Austin was seated behind the wheel of the 92 Mose Racing sprinter was March 7th where he parked the 92 on the podium in 2nd just a bumper length behind CJ Leary!
Mark, Tom & Laurie arrived in Evansville Indiana Tuesday evening August 18 and had several days to enjoy the lush green open countrysides, visiting with friends, Bill & Brenda Floyd from Lucas Oil, Tim & Tammy Engler of Engler Machines. We also took some time to tour a few " for sale houses". The debate is real!!!
Needing some lap times to kick the dust off, a local show at Lawrenceburg Speedway was the 1st stop on August 22. For those never seeing Lawrenceburg , most take a double take, as the track is formed pretty much like a Pringles potato chip, the turns are higher, and then the front straightway dips down, definitely not a " normal track layout ".Not being a regular needless to say we had no clue what the program procedure was. There are no hot laps, you push off in a group and bingo, green flys and you are qualifying. Not really realizing that until several laps into the run, a qualifying spot of 8th. On a no pass track, Austin started 8th, finished 8th..
Had the pleasure of taking in the Hut Hundred Champ car race on Sunday.@ Indiana State Fairgrounds & appreciated the hospitality of The Pink Floyd # 69, Lucas Oil Centers champ car with Kyle Cummings piloting the beauty. -
A quick visit to see Matt at Hummel Shocks, Joe @ DRC Chassis & Indy Race parts, the rig headed to Kokomo for our 1st Kokomo Smackdown. With close to 50 of the best non wing sprint car racers in the country, the challenge for a driver who has never set foot on the track is real. Competition is furious, wheel to wheel and takes no prisoners. The end result of the 3 days show was definitely not what any of the team had hoped for, BUT it was a great learning experience for Austin and the entire crew. SO much so that a spur of the moment decision was made Saturday night after the B - to leave the rig in Indy, fly back to OC and then pop on a plane head back to Indy pick up the rig and try our luck again at Terre Haute & Haubstadt.
We can not thank Mark Atchison ( for helping Tom drive & his sponsorship ) , Rip, Rich, Cody & Clayton enough for all of their hard work and to the companies and people that support Moose Racing!! Huntington Beach Glass & Mirror, Lucas Oil, Phil & Eileen King, DRC, Hummel Shocks, Specialized Powder Coating, Keizer Wheels, Lucas Oil Centers, Kistler Engines, RC Performance, Trackside, Offoadloans.com, Catt Plumbing, R.B. Concrete Cutting .
Stay tuned for the next set of adventures, and hopefully I won't be so tardy with my posts!
