Northwest Wingless Tour Ends Fantastic 2013 Campaign At SSP Saturday Night

Banks, Oregon- The climax of the wonderful point battle that has taken place in 2013 with the Northwest Wingless Tour will come to an end this Saturday September 14th. That night the cars and stars of the NWWT will tackle Sunset Speedway Park for one final time as the final round of the campaign will take place this coming weekend.
Going into Saturday night Rob Lindsey leads both the point table of the Northwest Wingless Tour and the NWSprintCarHistory.com Rookie of thy Year award. Lindsey has a narrow fifty-nine point lead over second place Sterling Kane. The maximum amount of point a driver can earn is seventy and that is if he or she can perform a clean sweep by setting fast time, win the heat, and finishing first in the feature. Where things get interesting is Lindsey will be flying in late on Saturday arriving from a business trip at St. Andrews Links in Scotland. If Lindsey becomes the champion he will be the fifth different champ in five years.
The Northwest Wingless Tour has visited SSP four times this year producing three different winners. Bill Winsley has two victories while Sterling Kane and Mitch Hoffses have one apiece. Overall in the season Kyle Miller has an impressive ten wins over Winsley who is the only other repeat winner this season. Evan Margeson, Mitch Hoffses, Kyle Mehner, and Sterling Kane have all made one trip to victory lane with the NWWT in 2013.
In sixteen visits to Sunset since 2009 the NWWT has produced eight different winners. With his win on August 10th Bill Winsley leads the series in feature wins at SSP with four over Gary Davis who has three. Drivers that have two series wins at the ¼-mile clay oval include Theo McCarty, Sterling Kane, and Mitch Hoffses. Earning just one series victory when the tour has come to town have been Ryan Bothwell, Mark Nichols, and Tony Thomas.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division. In 2013 the Northwest Wingless Tour will partake in eighteen races at four different race tracks in the states of Oregon and Washington. In four seasons there have been four different champions in this organization that has started to become pretty popular among fans and drivers in the Northwest.
