Lindsay Barney Scores Huge WSS Win At Madras

Madras, Oregon- The Wingless Sprint Series would make their final appearance at Madras Speedway on Saturday, September 3rd. It would make the fourth occasion that the series had visited the central Oregon ¼-mile oval. Eleven cars made the journey to Madras.
Eagle Creek teenager Lindsay Barney would finally have her major breakthrough she was looking for in the main event. Barney, who the race before at Madras was the car to beat for so long, was able to get the lead and pace the field. With around five laps remaining she would be put underneath an immense amount of pressure by Sherwood’s Rob Lindsey.
Lindsey and Barney would battle but Barney would prevail in the end. Lindsay Barney would hold on to collect her first career Sprint Car win. She became the seventh different winner in the inaugural season with the WSS.
Lance Hallmark, of McMinnville, made a late race pass for second followed by Rob Lindsey in third. The rest of the top five was Aloha’s Brad Rhodes, in fourth, and fifth finishing Guy Weedman, of Moro. Heat races were won by Rob Lindsey and Brad Rhodes while Lindsey was victorious in the trophy dash.
The Wingless Sprint Series will have their final race of the season on Saturday, September 10th. Sunset Speedway Park will be the venue to have the honor of hosting the last round. Pit Gates on Saturday will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:30. Tickets for this event are Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
