UMSS September 17 Show At St. Croix Valley Raceway

With the sale of the former Kopellah Speedway not completed until July and the May 27 show postponed because of the pending sale, the Upper Midwest Sprintcar Series (UMSS) and St. Croix Valley Raceway have rescheduled the May 27 winged sprint car date to run during the second night of a two night Final Showdown special event culminating on Saturday September 17. "If the weather permits, this will be the third and final Thunder in the Valley UMSS show of the season at SCVR," stated Ron Bernhagen of the UMSS and St. Croix Valley Raceway. It is also slated to be the 17th race of the UMSS season with just three more shows to follow, as the race for the GRP High Five Championship Title and the battle for the GRP Motorsports/BP Trading Company Rookie of the Year heats up. Currently Jerry Richert, Jr. sits on top of the championship point standings ahead of Andy Jones and Cody Hahn while Anna Kouba leads Chad Patterson and Kevin Bradwell in the rookie standings.
The winner of the UMSS feature race on Saturday September 17 will receive $1,000 thanks to some sponsorship help from GRP Motorsports. The GRP Past Champion Bonus will also be in effect. The first two UMSS shows at St. Croix Valley Raceway have provided fans with some exciting winged sprint car racing action. Joining the winged sprints on the program will be the popular TSCS nonwinged sprint cars. The 1/4 mile semi-banked dirt oval is well-suited for both types of sprint car racing. This will be the final opportunity for race fans to watch the sprints in action at St. Croix Valley Raceway in 2011, as the facility is slated to receive some improvements and upgrades before the 2012 season kicks off next spring. Come out and join area race fans in celebrating the final sprint car racing event of the season at St. Croix Valley Raceway and help the track close out its sprint car racing season in style with a good turnout of cars and fans.
