Inside Line Promotions – NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (Sept. 15, 2015) – Jamie Ball posted a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend during his debut in Wisconsin with the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series.

“It was satisfying,” he said. “We had looked to do a little better, but we set a goal of running in the top 10 every night and we did that.”

The weekend began for White Lightning Motorsports on Friday during the 23rd annual Kouba Memorial at St. Croix Valley Raceway in St. Croix Falls.

“It was a pretty fun track,” he said. “We’d never been there before, but heard great things about it.”

Ball advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the fourth row for the 55-lap race.

“I knew there was a red flag halfway so I just rode around the first part,” he said. “The track developed a black line about a car length off the wall. The lighting wasn’t great so there were a lot of shadows and dark spots so I struggled to hit my line. It was an accomplishment to finish 55 laps. I hadn’t raced more than 30 laps before that race.”

Ball battled for a top five throughout the main event before scoring a sixth-place result.

He then tackled Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday for the 15th annual Jerry Richert Memorial. Ball finished where he started – third – in a heat race before advancing from third to second place in a challenge race.

“I missed the top four redraw by one spot so I started fifth in the feature,” he said. “On the start it got stacked up pretty good. Everyone was bumper to bumper hitting each other. I fell back to about eighth. Once we got moving forward another driver started to spin in turns three and four. I spun a donut and kept going, but the UMSS rules say a spin becomes a yellow flag so I had to restart last, which would have been 17th.”

Ball rebounded from the early spin to earn a seventh-place finish.

“I was pretty upset about the start so I put the car in some good spots and drove the heck out of it the rest of the race,” he said. “The car was great. It stunk to feel like we gave away potentially a top-three finish, but I’m glad we overcame that start.”

Ball is slated to compete this Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., for the Casey’s General Store Midwest Fall Brawl IV with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and Saturday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, with the Sprint Invaders.

He enters the Sprint Invaders season finale ranked third in points – only 34 points out of the lead.
