HUNT TO RELINQUISH DRIVING DUTIES

LINCOLN, CALIFORNIA (April 8, 2011) – After celebrating his 52nd USAC feature win at the Madera Speedway during the 8th Annual Gerhardt Classic on April 2nd, Tony Hunt has announced that he will relinquish driving duties of the Metal Works Racing Team primary car to open the door for young racing talent.

Hunt will move his driving over to the #50 eBay Motors sponsored entry that currently serves as the back-up car for the Mike Phulps-owned organization. While defending his title and contending for a 7th USAC Championship Hunt will help guide and mentor a hopeful to his winning ways.

“I’ve considered this decision for several months and would like to assist someone in enjoying the success that I have had. I know our equipment is top notch and would like to see it used to its potential,” Hunt said.

The #56 Metal Works car, which won the USAC Western Sprint Car Series championship in 2010, will be open to any qualified and funded candidates. The ideal candidate will be a young driver looking to gain the necessary pavement experience to move through the ranks of motorsports.

Along with access to the team’s race winning set-ups and car prep, Hunt will also offer his many years of driver coaching as an added value to his teammate.

The Metal Works team finished second and third in the 2010 Turkey Night Grand Prix with Hunt and Bobby East behind the wheel.

“We don’t really have a primary car so to speak,” Hunt said. “All of our cars are built with the same attention to detail and we take pride in their consistency to run up front.” The team is also in the process of adding a third car to their fleet.
