Traditional Sprints Added to Topless Nationals at Ogilvie Raceway Oct. 24

In a joint effort with Ogilvie Raceway, the UMSS and GRP Motorsports, the Traditional sprint cars have been added to the program at the Topless Nationals at the Ogilvie Raceway for a one-day show on Saturday, October 24. The first-ever race for the UMSS Traditional Sprint Car Series was held at Ogilvie back on May 7, 2011 with Kevin Bradwell picking up the inaugural win. The October 24 race will mark the 101st race for the popular non-winged sprint car series since that first season back in 2011. It will of course be a non-point race, as the point championship ended at the Richert Memorial on September 12. Three-time and current champion Rob Caho, Jr. of Wyoming, Minnesota is expected to be on hand along with 2015 TSCS Rookie of the Year James Giossi.

The Traditional sprints raced one other time at Ogilvie in June of 2011 with Johnny Parsons III picking up the victory. The Traditional sprints were scheduled to race this season at the Big O, but Mother Nature nixed that event slated for August 22. Stated Ogilvie Raceway promoter Nate Fischer, "The Traditional sprints will fit in real well with the Topless Nationals theme, and we look forward to their return at the track where they held their first-ever race."

The purse is on par with the purse the Traditional sprints race for at tracks like Cedar Lake, Rice Lake and Granite City. The feature currently is slated to pay $300 to win with $100 to start. Although it is a non-point show, the usual Traditional sprint car series rules and race procedures will be in place for this sanctioned event. Two or three qualifying heat races are expected with passing and finishing points determining the lineup for what will be either a 20 or 25 lap feature. More details will follow.
