Park Jefferson hosts USMTS plus Sprint Car Shootout
For the first time since 2009 the Park Jefferson Speedway will host the United States Modified Touring Series presented by Ideal Wheels. The USMTS is the country’s premier modified touring series, sanctioning events like the King of America VI in Humboldt, Kansas, the Masters at Cedar Lake Speedway, and the Fall Jamboree at the Deer Creek Speedway. The USMTS features some of the country’s top modified stars in Rodney Sanders of Texas, point leader Jason Hughes from Oklahoma, and Iowa’s Jesse Sobbing. Hughes returns to Park Jefferson after the 6 year absence and is the leading USMTS feature winner with 3 wins.
“This is the seventh time the USMTS has visited Park Jefferson, and we have such a rich history of top quality modified racing. I am excited to see the USMTS return, however I will be pulling for one of our locals like Bob Moore or Ricky Stephan to challenge these guys. I know that Jay Noteboom beat them back in the mid 2000’s, and our local modified drivers have proven themselves across the Midwest” stated promoter Adam Adamson.
Joining the USMTS in Saturday’s open wheel mayhem event will be round #2 of the North v. South Sprint Car. The Nebraska 360 sprints won round 1 with Jack Dover picking up the feature win. The MSTS will be bringing back some of its heaving hitters and may be bringing in North Dakota’s Lee Grosz to represent the northern series. Rounding out the action are the 2 support divisions with the sport modifieds and sport compacts, which were voted by the fans as their divisions which they wanted to see along with the USMTS.
