Huge events await in second half of Highbanks season; preview of what’s coming up
Amidst a midway point break in the 2018 season officials provide a preview of a chock-full second half of the season that boasts multiple special events including traditional favorites and exciting new shows. Here’s a preview of some of the marquee special events coming to Salina Highbanks Speedway over the next few months. *The following highlights only special events; we have NASCAR Whelen All-American Series points racing through September 15th on every Saturday except September 1st.
July:
Saturday, July 14th NASCAR Whelen All-American Series points racing resumes at the Highbanks presented by Buddy’s Home Furnishings as well as the fifth Custom Coatings Trophy Car race.
Saturday, July 21st Sprint Cars are back! The high-flying AmeriFlex OCRS Sprint Cars will hit the track on July 21st presented by Truck Lungs and Joe’s Hand Cleaner/Joe’s Kleen Products.
August:
Saturday, August 18th will feature one of the track’s most popular one-day events – the annual USMTS Salute To Our Veterans. The USMTS Modifieds invade the Highbanks for a national points race. The event will also feature pre-race pageantry that honors America’s heroes as well as FREE admission to Veterans and Active Military members courtesy of Arkansas Myriad “ARMI.”
September:
Saturday, September 8th The 2nd Annual Mayes County Coaches’ Cup will take place. Area coaches will renew school rivalries in an epic grudge race!
Saturday, September 15th will be the 6th Annual Sooner Showdown, now just one day only! The Touring Outlaw Modified Series, better known as “TOMS” will make its first ever visit to the Highbanks. Additionally this year’s Sooner Showdown will be Championship Night (the final points race) for the other three NWAAS divisions.
Sunday, September 23rd we will be racing UTV’s and Motocross on the off-road track.
Saturday, September 29th OCRS Sprint Cars AmeriFlex Challenge III presented by Grand National Trailer – $3,000 to win Champ Sprint Cars! (at minimum $600 to start); Sooner Limited Modified Series vs. B-Mods, KAR Vintage Sprints and additional support classes TBA
October:
October 6th will feature the highly anticipated “Monsters on the Highbanks” – For the first time ever, there will be a Monster Truck Show at Salina Highbanks Speedway! Famous monster trucks from the Monster Truck Racing League that will be on hand will include Bigfoot, Barbarian and more! The event will also feature UTV races, the Tough Truck Challenge and a 100-lap Enduro.
