Rodney Sanders
Podium finish in USMTS stop at Fayette County
After Friday’s opener at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wis.) was rained out, Rodney Sanders kicked off his Labor Day weekend with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Saturday afternoon at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.). Following a third-place finish in his heat, Sanders posted a runner-up finish in his B-Main, which positioned him 18th on the starting grid for the feature. Coming one spot shy of a Top-10 finish, Rodney passed seven cars to place 11th.
The following night at Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa) for the ninth annual War in West Union, Rodney jumped up one spot in his heat race to finish third. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 11th, Sanders advanced forward eight spots in the 40-lapper to register a third-place finish. He followed Dereck Ramirez and Tyler Wolff across the line with Jason Hughes and Jake Timm rounding out the Top-5.
Rodney sits in third the latest USMTS point standings.
