Max Pozsgai

Macon & 'The 66' Recap

For a final tune up before the $10,000 to win Mike Phillips Memorial, Max Pozsgai and the Suzuki powered PMP Chassis 7x went to Macon Speedway on July 13.

Max used the heat race to go from 5th to 2nd securing an outside front row starting spot for the feature. Relegated to the top side of the speedway, Max was able to battle for the lead with eventual winner, Garrett Duff, who was running the low side. A caution with 2 to go saw Max running behind Duff and Kyle Schuett. A final push for the win wasn't meant to be, however, as Max pulled off with overheating issues unfortunately resulting in the first DNF of the 2013 season.

Friday night the 19th saw Max taking on 95 of the best micro sprint drivers in the country at the Belle-Clair Speedway for the POWRi sactioned, Mike Phillips Memorial 66 race presented by National Speed Sport News.

Fighting slight fueling issues, Max was still able to go from 7th to 5th in his heat race, lining him up 7th in the 6th qualifer race. "The car would just get to the end of the straightaway and almost die. Once we got that fixed we didn't hit the set up in the qualifier and missed the show. It was kind of a frustrating night," said Max. Needing to get 4th, the 7x would cross the line in 9th retiring the team for the night.

Saturday night brought high hopes for everyone in the pit area and with $10,000 on the line, the teams were anxious to get the night going. It wasn't meant to be, however, as after the second flight of hotlaps hit the track, the skies opened up and the night was cancelled. POWRi and Addiktive Promotions are looking for a makeup date to reschedule the finale.

This Friday, Max and the 7x team will head to Jacksonville Speedway. Saturday night will see Max spin wrenches for Crew Chief Nathan Charron in his #96 Maxim Racing 410 Sprint Car in the MOWA Speedweek finale at Macon Speedway. Tony Stewart is expected to be in the house in his own #14 J&J/Kistler Chevy Performance Sprint Car.

Max would like to thank his sponsors for their continued support Graue INC, Collision Concepts INC, Amsoil, Bland Bros. Enterprises, Greg's Machine Shop Engines, PMP Chassis, Hoosier Tire, JHD Designs, Competition Suspension. The 7x team would also like to welcome new sponsor Advanced Glass of Springfield, IL.
