JA Wins Howard Kaeding Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA: Jonathan Allard broke back into victory lane wit the Cancen Oil King of the West Series Saturday night at the Ocean Speedway Watsonville following two weeks of bad luck.

Lining up third in the event, Jonathan quickly moved into the second spot as he followed pole-sitter, Tommy Tarlton into the first turn, as Shane Golobic made it a three car battle for the top position.

While Golobic grabbed the lead, JA got around Tarlton to overtake the second spot, and the lead duo put on a dual for the ages on the very technical track.

As both drivers hit their marks, Golobic worked the bottom of the track, and Allard work the high side to perfection and grabbed the lead on the 14th lap just before the caution flag waved.

On the ensuing restart, Golobic was able to get the lead back, and the current point leader continued to hound the youngster.

On a lap 22 restart, JA took Golobic to school as he blasted the highside and took the lead, which he wouldn’t relinquish as he posted his fourth series win of the season, tying him for the season lead, and 32nd career series win, putting him third all time.

Of those 32 wins, this was the Chico, CA drivers first at the Ocean Speedway Watsonville.

“I couldn’t be happier to win tonight since the last couple weeks haven’t gone like we wanted and it’s pretty special to get our first victory here with the 410 at Ocean during the HK Classic,” commented a very jubilant Allard. “That was some pretty intense racing there with Shane Golobic and I just wish we could get him out here full time with KWS. I also want to dedicate the win tonight to Duke McMillen, who passed away this week. He was a great man and we're going to miss him.”

Jonathan was also in action on the Fourth of July at the Placerville Speedway aboard Paul Silva’s No. 57.

After timing in sixth, Jonathan got spun out in his heat, and was forced to the B, where he would run second and transfer into the feature.

Lining up in the 10th spot, Jonathan would run the topside of the speedway to slowly work his way into the third spot as a late caution slowed his pace.

On the restart, JA lost the third spot to his brother, and he would wind up finishing in the fourth spot.
ON TAP: With the July 14th race at Tulare being cancelled, JA will now be back in action on July 21st at the Antioch Speedway.
