King of the West Sprint Car Series rookie contenders Chad Compton of Fair Oaks and Cody Lamar from Rio Linda will be highlighted among other items on “KWS Tonight” this Thursday evening at 7pm pst.

To view the show log onto http://www.kwssprints.com starting at 7pm on Thursday. It will then replay on the homepage to watch at your leisurely pleasure over the next week. Archived shows from this year are available at http://vimeo.com/kingofthewestsprints/videos

The 2012 season has marked both Compton and Lamar’s first ever behind the wheel of an unlimited 410 Sprint Car full-time and we were able to catch up with them at Chico’s “Prelude to Gold Cup” on August 18.

Compton has competed in 15 of the 16 King of the West races and sits 11th in the points at the helm of his Advance Pest Management No. 69 mount. He has scored one BR Motorsports fast time award & is coming off a top-10 finish at the “Prelude to Gold Cup.”

Lamar has run 12 of the 16 events this year and is 15th in points aboard the famed Tri-C No. 3c machine. The youngster claimed a KSE Dash win two events back and is fresh off his career best King of the West Series finish of 9th at the “Prelude to Gold Cup.”

We will also take a look back at the “Road to Dirt Cup” event from June 8 of this year at Silver Dollar Speedway. KWS driver standings leader Jonathan Allard scored victory that night over a hard charging Tim Kaeding, who started deep in the field and earned the Pit Stop USA hard charger award.

On the Kaeding Performance Flashback this week we’ll showcase the 2006 “Cotton Classic” at the Kings Speedway in Hanford. Two-time World of Outlaws champion Jason Meyers claimed the win that night and it marked his first ever 410 Sprint Car victory at the three-eighths mile oval.

In addition to all of that we will preview this weekend’s “Gold Cup Race of Champions” in Chico, which pays $20,000 to the winner on Saturday night. Former Golden State 410 champ Kyle Larson will look to win the event for the second consecutive year on Saturday while driving the Kick-It for Cancer No. 57 sprinter.

We will also discuss a couple of special events going on at the “Gold Cup Race of Champions” in Chico, with those being the Clyde Lamar Gold Cup Golf Classic and the Kick-It for Cancer Kickball game. Info on the golf tournament can be found by calling (916) 709-8652 and info on the Kick-It game http://www.facebook.com/events/178376422287367/178717648919911/?ref=notif&notif_t=plan_mall_activity
