USAC Southwest Sprint Cars Headline Saturday's Easter Eggstravaganza at CSP

The wingless wonders of the USAC Southwest Sprint Car series take center stage at Canyon Speedway Park on Saturday night as the track hosts the popular “Easter Eggstravaganza” annual event atop the 1/3-mile clay oval.

Following an open practice on Friday night from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars take to the CSP oval on Saturday night along with Western Mod Lites, Micro Sprints, IMCA Sport Modifieds and Late Models.

Saturday’s racing action goes green at 7:00 p.m.

While there will be no shortage of racing action on the track, there will be even more entertainment for the little ones with an Easter Egg Hunt set to take place for the kids as well.

With a $2,000 winner’s share up for grabs, Saturday marks the first USAC Southwest Sprint Car points race of the season atop the 1/3-mile CSP oval.

While Bryan Clauson is atop the USAC Southwest point charts following the recent points opener at Las Vegas, Tempe’s Stevie Sussex is the virtual series points leader following the Sin City Showdown with Josh Hodges, Charles Davis, Jr., and three-time and reigning series champion R.J. Johnson among the early series frontrunners.

Johnson topped three of the initial four USAC Southwest events at CSP last season before being denied victory lane in the final three outings.

Sussex enjoyed a pair of CSP triumphs last year with other 2015 series winners including Matt Rossi and Mike Martin.

Chaz Baca, Jr., topped two of three Mod Lite events during Winter Challenge action while Paul Martin enjoyed Micro Sprint victory lane during the recent CSP Season Opener on March 12. It marks the first outing of the year at CSP for both the IMCA Sport Modifieds and Late Models.

Tickets for Saturday’s “Easter Eggstravaganza” are just $16, with a $3 discount for Military, Seniors and Students. Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children 6 and under admitted free. VIP passes are available for $20.
