Butler County Race Recap
The 2nd night of the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints "Week of Speed" had them visiting Butler County Speedway for the fourth and final time of the 2013 racing season. Although the weather was warm, it turned into a beautiful evening that saw a smooth, fast track for the 20 sprinters in the pits and the grandstands were full of fans anticipating another excellent show and they were not to be disappointed.
All 3 heats were exciting with some fantastic wheel to wheel racing action. The first heat saw Tige Jensen racing to the win, followed closely by Seth Brahmer, Stu Snyder and Jason Danley. The second heat was arguably the best race of the year when Jack Dover edged out Ryan Roberts, Eric Lutz, Jordan Boston and Tyler Drueke with lot's of slide jobs and close quarter racing. in the third heat, Cody Ledger raced to his first heat win of the year and was followed across the finish line by Josh Riggins, Trevor Grossenbacher and Tadd Holliman.
The final Trophy Dash of the year (we only run Trophy Dashes at Butler County Speedway per promoter's request) saw Jack Dover race to the win followed by Cody Ledger, Seth Brahmer, Tige Jensen, Ryan Roberts and Josh Riggins. The Trophy Dash was worth an additional $250 to Dover for his win.
The top eight in passing points during the heat races included: Dover, Riggins, Brahmer, Roberts, Ledger, Jensen, Grossenbacher and Snyder. After the redraw, the front row saw Brahmer and Riggins leading the 20 cars the the green flag of the feature race.
Brahmer raced to an early lead from his pole position and held onto the point when a yellow flag was flown fro Dover when he lost the front axle out from under his car and was unable to return to action from the work area. On the next lap, Jordan Boston was involved in an on-track skirmish and lost the front wing of his car bring out another yellow flag. Dover, unaware a lap had been counted returned to the track, but was a lap down. After the race resumed Brahmer continued to hold the lead until lap 17 of the 25 lap feature when Trevor Grossenbacher charged to the lead from his 6th starting position on the outside. Grossenbacher held on to go to his 2nd Fuse Weekly Winner's Circle of the year with Cody Ledger (who had the best finish of his young career in 360's), Ryan Roberts, Tyler Drueke and Stu Snyder rounding out the top five. The next five had Brahmer, Danley, Lutz, Boston and Jeff Lowery.
After the winner's circle presentation, Grossenbacher pulled the #2 pill, awarding an additional $300 to Cody Ledger as the winner of the Electrical Systems, Inc Challenge.
