The Nebraska 360 Sprint Car Series returned to action at Junction Motor Speedway on Tuesday night, and Don Droud Jr. pulled off an impressive victory.
The series was part of the NAPA Sprint Car Extravaganza presented by Mid-Nebraska Land Developers on a chilly Tuesday night in McCool Junction.
Jason Danley brought the field down to the green flag of Tuesday’s 25-lap main event, and it was Danley in command of the race lead early on.
As the race wore, Don Droud Jr. worked his way through the field. He got by Ryan Roberts and Jack Dover for fourth and third, and with eight laps remaining in the race, Droud caught and passed Danley for the lead.
While Droud was out front, Roberts and Dover had a wild race for third. The two Nebraska drivers traded slide jobs multiple times in the closing laps which was the best race on the track at the time.
However, no one could catch the number 2 of Lincoln, Nebraska’s Don Droud Jr. After having some tough luck in previous sprint car events in McCool Junction, Droud broke through and took the checkered flag on Tuesday in front of a sold out crowd. It was first Nebraska 360 sprint series win of 2015.
Jason Danley finished second in the race. Ryan Roberts barely held off Jack Dover for the third spot. Dover took fourth, and Seth Brahmer rounded out the top five.
The Nebraska 360 Sprint series returns to action on August 22 as the tour heads to the Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, South Dakota for a race in conjunction with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series.
The next two stops after that will be at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. The first trip to I-80 will be on August 28 for the Speedy Bill Memorial and then again on September 6 for the Bobby Parker Memorial.
