Aurora, Nebraska’s Ryan Roberts got his first Nebraska 360 Sprint Series victory of 2015 at Junction Motor Speedway after leading flag-to-flag Saturday night.
Roberts, along with 22 others, took to the Junction as the Nebraska 360 Sprint Series and the NCRA sprint car series co-sanctioned Saturday’s sprint car festivities.
The action in Saturday’s 25-lap feature event did not take long to get going. On the opening lap, C.J. Johnson went for a wild ride in turn four as he flipped over two times. Johnson climbed out of the car and was not injured.
When Racing resumed, Roberts continued to lead the way. The caution came out with 17 laps remaining for Don Droud Jr., but despite the yellow flag, Roberts kept the other competitors behind him.
Cody Ledger had a top-five run going for him until he broke and stalled in turn three with only six laps to go. Ledger was running third at the time but finished near the rear by the end of the race.
The race came down to the final lap when Roberts was out in front, and Jake Bubak from Arvada, Colorado cut away at Roberts’ lead. On the last lap, Roberts and Bubak went into turn three, and as they came out of turn four, Roberts got caught behind a lapped car for brief moment but went inside of the car. Bubak tried to squeeze by for the win, but Roberts held off Bubak for his first Nebraska 360 sprint win of the 2015 season.
Bubak finished second with J.D. Johnson taking home third. Seth Brahmer took fourth, and Billy Alley rounded out the top five.
The next stop on the Nebraska 360 Sprint Series is on September 26 when the series takes on the Midwest Sprint Touring Series at the Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson South Dakota. The series will then wrap up the 2015 season with the Bobby Parker Memorial at I-80 Speedway on October 2nd and 3rd
