Droud Heats it up with 2 in a row at Junction
Don Droud, Jr. Brings the Heat at Junction Motor Speedway!
The Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprint Series hit the track at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska Saturday evening in the scorching heat for the 3rd race of the 2016 season. Last weeks Booby Parker Memorial at I-80 Speedway was a washout as torrential rain hit the track during hot laps.
The evening’s show brought 17 cars to the semi banked oval as heat one saw Jordan Boston bring 7 other cars to the green flag for heat race #1. Boston’s jumpstart to the green flag was short lived as Josh Riggins gunned his 14J machine to the lead in turn #2. Ryan Roberts pursued Riggins for 6 laps when he geared his #18 Mid-Nebraska Land Developers machine to the lead going down the back stretch as Cody Ledger followed passing Riggins. The pace was set as Ryan Roberts took the checkers to take the win. Cody Ledger, Josh Riggns, J.D. Johnson, and John Klauunde rounded out the top 5.
Heat race #2 brought the stars of the series to the track as the top 5 cars in points were set to compete in the 8 car field for 8 laps. Billy Alley led the field to the green but was not able to hold off a charging Don Droud, Jr in turn #1. The field remained single file for 8 laps as Droud took his Casey General Store’s #2 to the checkered flag. Billy Alley, Jack Dover, Seth Brahmer, and Stu Snyder rounded out the top 5.
Don Droud Jr. lead the field to the green flag for the Speedway Motors A main. Seth Brahmer gained a monster run off of turn 2 to take over Droud for the lead on lap #1. Droud was too much and Jack Dover followed to take over the top two spots. Dover tried persistently to overtake Droud but the Casey General Store’s #2 held him off. The win for Droud is two in a row at Junction Motor Speedway.

The Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprint Series will return to action next Saturday night, June 11th, as we visit the 2 year old Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, NE. This brand new facility will not disappoint as this will be a driver’s track that will not require the huge horsepower, that larger tracks require, setting up for side by side action and 4 wide racing.
