Malvern Bank 360 Sprints
Back to Back in South Dakota!
Two co-sanctioned events with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series will keep us north in South Dakota this Friday and Saturday night.
First on Friday, for the first time in nearly 25 years, 360ci winged sprint cars will return to the high-banked 3/8th mile oval at Wagner Speedway in Wagner, South Dakota. When asked about the facility, owner Lynn Fischer had this to say, "We are a 3/8th mile high banked track, 41 degree banking, that has multiple lanes of racing. Every night, we seem to have 2-3 wide racing that keeps the fans on the edge of their seats. We are not known for a very soft track because it tends to make grooves making for a rough track. We keep the track packed very hard for that reason." This is an inaugural event for both series.
After viewing videos of the track on Youtube, I would say that the track resembles Junction Motor Speedway the most except the banking is slightly higher. If the side by side racing comes true, we should have one of the most action packed races of the season on our hands!
Then on Saturday, we return to Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, South Dakota. Thomas Kennedy won the April show but a surging Lee Grosz was a top 3 finisher in that one as well. Grosz was last weeks winner at Jackson Motorplex. Don't count out the "Gas Man" Jack Dover as this is a track he has dominated in the past. He has already picked up a win here in one of their weekly shows.
We look forward to back to back racing this weekend. We hope you will join us and see the best 360ci winged sprint car racing in the midwest.
Racing begins at 8p Friday night at Wagner Speedway and 7p Saturday at Park Jefferson Speedway.
