“Norm Nelson Classic Sunday at Angell Park” IRA Sprints, Badger Midgets, Legends highlight events
Sun Prairie, Wis., July 13---The "3rd annual Norm Nelson Classic" is slated for this Sunday Night July 17 at Angell Park Speedway, and will feature three divisions: The IRA Bumper to Bumper Outlaw Sprint Cars Series,Mid-State Equipment/ Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie Badger Midget Racing Series, and the Wisconsin Dirt Racing Legends.
The race will honor Norm Nelson who won the first-ever midget feature at the track on June 2, 1946. Nelson's career is also highlighted by: three USAC National Stock Car Championships, and thirty-five USAC Stock Car wins. Nelson is also a former IRA Champion.
Brandon Waelti won the event last year, and leads Robbie Ray winner of the most recent event at the track in Badger points heading into the event. Grandstands open at 4:30 pm, practice and qualifying beginning at 6:00 pm, with racing to follow.
