"Rain cancels Angell Park Speedway on Sunday Night”
Sun Prairie, Wis., July 17---Rain forced cancellation of the “3rd annual Norm Nelson Classic” Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. The event was to feature the IRA Bumper to Bumper Outlaw Sprint Car Series, Mid-State Equipment / Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie Badger Midget Series, and Wisconsin Dirt Racing Legends Series.
Point leaders Brandon Waelti (midget) and Tory Strauss (600 micro) lead the list of entries excepted for the “Badger doubleheader” on Saturday night July 23 at Sycamore Speedway. The Badger divisions will join the tracks regular stock car divisions for the evenings events.
Waelti has two midget feature victories this season. Troy Strauss a former micro feature winner at the track holds a 145-point lead of over Norm Ehrke winner of the June 18 event at Sycamore. It will mark the first time in the 80-year history of Badger that the series will sanction a midget auto race at the facility. Badger has sanctioned twelve micro events since 2012 at the track.
