Waelti Battles Jones for Fourth Win of Season

Sun Prairie, WI (June 31st, 2023) - Brandon Waelti returned in a dramatic way, picking up his fourth win of the season. Waelti would have to battle rookie Parker Jones for countless laps in an all out war at Angell Park Speedway.

35 cars made the trip to Angell Park for the final race in July. Kyle Stark headlined as he looked to pick up his third feature win of the season, but drivers such as Todd Kluever, Adam Taylor, and Brandon Waelti looked to stop him.

FiveOne Motorsports single car qualifying session went to the rookie Parker Jones, whose 15.051 was fastest overall. Adam Taylor brought home the second best time with a 15.153. The rest of the top 5 consisted of Andy Baugh, Cody Weisensel, and Mike Stroik.

The Madison Extinguisher Service non-qualifier heat was the first racing action on track as the birthday boy Nick Kilian picked up the win as Jack Routson second and Trey Weishoff third. Auto Meter Heat 1 was taken by Todd Kluever with Daltyn England and Zach Boden behind him. Simpson Race Products and VMS Rod Ends Heat 2 would see Kyle Stark win the heat, while Adam Taylor and Aaron Muhle rounded out the top three. Behlings Heat 3 saw Brandon Waelti take the win with Parker Jones and Derek Doerr on the podium.

The High Performance Lubricants B-Main locked seven cars into the feature with Harrison Kleven starting from the pole and Mike Stroik alongside him. Andy Baugh walked away the winner of the B-Main. Harrison Kleven, Mike Stroik, Cody Weisensel, Jack Routson, Jordan Nelson, and Dave Collins Jr all made the A-Main as well.

The Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midgets A-Main rolled off with rookie Miles Doherty and Aaron Muhle on the front row. The green flag flew and fourth starting Brandon Waelti made a power move to the lead on the first lap. Todd Kluever moved into second and rookie Parker Jones into third. Waelti let second and third battle as he walked away from the field. Kluever and Jones battled for a set of laps before Jones made the move on lap eight into second. The caution would fly on lap ten, as a slow car slowed everyone down. The green came back out and Jones, having been closer to Waelti than ever before, made it count, passing Waelti for the lead momentarily before Waelti took it back. Adam Taylor moved into third past Kluever as the top two cars battled for the race lead. A yellow for debris came out on lap seventeen which gave Jones another chance to challenge for the lead. As the green came back out, Jones threw a monster slider on Waelti in turn one, capturing the lead but seeing Waelti drive right by him again. Waelti and Jones would swap the top spot back and forth for the remaining eight laps, throwing slider after slider on each other, before Jones hit the cushion just a bit too hard resulting in Waelti being able to get a gap. Waelti picked up his third feature win of the season at Angell Park Speedway and his fourth overall for the season. Parker Jones would come home a painful second with Adam Taylor joining them on the podium. Zach Boden and Todd Kluever rounded out the top five on the night, after a great battle.

The Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midgets will be in action next on August 5th, at Sycamore Speedway along with the MARA Midgets.
