It's Race Week in Dairyland as the Badger Midgets Open at Beaver Dam Raceway
The Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midget Auto Racing Association opens its season this Saturday evening, April 20, at Beaver Dam Raceway (Beaver Dam, WI). The high banks of BDR will offer fans and drivers a unique perspective as this is the only track with such banking on Badger's schedule this year.
When the smoke clears Saturday night, the podium will be 100% different from Badger's last visit in 2021. Back then, the top three in order were Jeff Zelinski, Scott Hatton and Chase McDermand. The top two no longer race midgets and McDermand has moved on to the USAC and Xtreme Outlaw Series midget ranks.
According to Loren Olson's book, "Midgets of Wisconsin," Beaver Dam was one of the staples of the Badger schedule in the mid-1990's with the likes of Kevin Olson, Dan Boorse, Kevin Doty and many others scoring victories.
The April 20 go, will include the IRA Sprint Cars and Dirt King Late Models. We'll give you full details of the event later in the week. But for now, make plans to help the Badger Midget Series open their 2024 season.
