Vardell Finishes Fourth in TriboDyn Lubricants Carolina Sprint Tour Championship Standings

Inside Line Promotions – TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. (Oct 10, 2019) – Sean Vardell earned a fourth-place finish in the TriboDyn Lubricants Carolina Sprint Tour championship standings during only his second season behind the wheel of a winged sprint car.

“It was a pretty good season,” he said. “We definitely wish it would’ve gone a bit better, but it doesn’t always happen that way. Our car was good on and off all year long. We made some crew chief changes a couple times and I think we got a good understanding of what we like so that’ll help us for next year.”

Vardell won eight heat races throughout the year. Though winning heat races is great, the way the points are set up the tour drivers don’t get many passing points when starting on the front row of the heat. That has an impact on starting up front in the main events.

“If championships could be won off heat races we would’ve won,” he joked. “It seemed like something always happened during the feature. We only had two DNFs, which was good, but the lack of passing points didn’t help us much.”

The Carolina Sprint Tour had 16 races scheduled and were able to get in 11 of those. Vardell finished in the top five four times – with a season-best outing of fourth – and he had nine top-10 results.

“Overall, it was a good season and we’re happy with our fourth-place points finish,” he said. “We’re going to take the offseason to revamp our program and come out strong for next year. The series is continuing to grow and I’m really excited for 2020.”
