Hendricks Garners Fifth POWRi Lucas Oil West Midgets Series Top 10 of Season

Inside Line Promotions – SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Aug. 29, 2017) – Zane Hendricks capped last weekend’s POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series doubleheader by earning his fifth top-10 finish of the season with the series.

The action began on Friday when Hendricks made his debut at Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan. He won a heat race – his third this season – after starting on the pole. That locked him into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 1 to start the A Main on the pole.

“I had a good jump on the start and just drove it in too deep,” he said. “I got into the wall in turn two and bent the right rear wheel. I was focused on winning the battle into turn one and just got it too hot. The damage was too much to fix so that ended our night early.”

The DNF was a hard pill to swallow for Hendricks, who ventured to Springfield Raceway on Saturday with the series. He picked up a position to finish fourth in a heat race, which started him eighth in the main event.

“We fought handling all night,” he said. “In the feature I completely lost brakes. The track was slick and around the tires. I really couldn’t get a run out of the corners. I was sliding up. I tried to run the top a bit, but it was a wide track and way too far up there. I stayed around eighth for most of the race. There at the end I tried the top and a couple of cars got by me.”

Hendricks held on for a 10th-place result.

He is slated to take this weekend off before competing on Sept. 9 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., with the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series.
