Ernie Leftwich promoted to Lucas Oil MLRA Series Director

By Trenton Berry (Wheatland, MO) -- Lucas Oil MLRA Officials are pleased to announce the promotion of former Assistant Series Director Ernie Leftwich to the role of Series Director. Leftwich has been a longtime series official and spearheaded much of the series business and operations since Lucas Oil purchased the tour prior to the 2013 season.

"I've been a part of the series in one way or another form 20 years," commented Leftwich. "I want to thank Dan Robinson for his continued support over the past five years. I've learned a lot form him and respect the leadership example he's instilled in me. I wish nothing more than to continue the same practices and goals we've always had for the series. I would also like to add a thank you to Lucas Oil Products and my entire family. The opportunity also would not be possible without the support of Gary Hubert and Forrest and Charlotte Lucas, I'm grateful to them as well!"

Previously Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson held the title of Series Director. With additional responsibilities at the track and an ever growing events schedule and facility, he is excited for Leftwich to assume a larger role.

Ernie has a great passion for the MLRA and Dirt Late Model Racing in general," commented Robinson. "As my role with the speedway has continued to expand, it was a natural fit for Ernie to step up and take the reins of the series and lead it forward into its 30th year. I will always have a soft spot myself for MLRA and appreciate all that Harriett and Cowboy did to build it into one of the nation's premier Late Model series. I'll still be at the races from time to time, but I am excited to have Ernie get his much deserved chance to lead the organization moving forward."

For those attending the Heartland Motorsports Show this weekend, be sure to stop and see Ernie and the crew at the Lucas Oil MLRA booth. They will be releasing the entire schedule of events for the 30th season, including the season opener at LaSalle Speedway, which will pay $5,000 and $15,000 to win, on March 30 and 31.
