Kyle Reinhardt goes Two for Two over the Holiday with a Win at Selinsgrove
SELINSGROVE, PA – Kyle Reinhardt found victory lane for the second time in two days with the Capitol Renegade United Racing Club, this time at Selinsgrove Speedway.
Twenty-one cars chose racing over barbeques and made their way to Selinsgrove Speedway on July 4 to participate in the 30-lap Firecracker Special. Leading the field to the green was Kyle Reinhardt, fresh off his win the night before at Port Royal Speedway, with Cody Keller to his outside.
It was a rough start for the URC main event as before one lap was complete Keller did a 360 from the second starting position to bring out the first yellow. On the restart, Blane Heimbach motored from fourth into the lead off of turn two, however was short lived due to trouble involving Mallie Shuster and last year’s champion Josh Weller. Both Shuster and Weller would retire from the race after the incident. Third time is the charm as the start of the race was finally underway. Heimbach attemptd to slide into the lead again, however Reinhardt was there to hold him off.
The top three raced nose to tail until the red flag flew on lap 11 for Greg Jones who ended up on his roof in turn three. Jones was alright, but his car would be towed to the pits ending his night. When the green flag dropped Reinhardt was in the lead followed by Heimbach and Mark Smith. The battle for second heated up as Heimbach and Smith exchanged slide jobs allowing current point leader Chad Layton to close the gap. Heimbach began chasing down Reinhardt but it was too little too late and Reinhardt was victorious for the second time in two days, allowing him to become the driver with the most URC wins in 2019. Heimbach, Layton, Smith, and Derek Locke rounded out the top five.
Reinhardt, who sat second in Selinsgrove points coming into this event said that his win at Port Royal the night before was a “confidence booster” he was able to “pick up where we left off at Selingrove. We have had a great car there recently.” As far as what this win does for Reinhardt’s run with URC in the future he said that he is “just building more confidence and keeping the momentum rolling with both the 360 and 410.” Reinhardt has had a solid year with the no. 1W, and his crew and sponsors: Central Builders Supply Company, dlHeiges Electric, and Seth Racing Engines have all played a large role in propelling him to victory lane.
The KSE Hard Charger award went to Derek Locke after starting 13th and making his way to fifth. Heat races were won by Chad Layton, Ryan Kissinger, and Blane Heimbach.
The Capitol Renegade United Racing Club will be back in action next weekend with another double header at William’s Grove Speedway Friday night, and Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday.
