Cottage Grove, Oregon- The 2018 Champion Racing Oil Speedweek Northwest, presented by BC Motorsports and Highline Performance, would wrap up on Saturday, July 14th at Cottage Grove Speedway. Twenty-seven cars would be in attendance for the last leg of competition on the series schedule. Teams in the pit area represented the states of Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, and Texas as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Hanford, California hot shoe D.J. Netto secured the lead right off the bat. Netto would pull away from the rest of the field and was the first to hit lapped traffic. Not wasting time maneuvering around the tail of the field he would make some very key moves that allowed him to retain the lead.

D.J. would be briefly challenged but stuck to his guns on the high side and kept his mount out in front. A lap twenty-six was the only stoppage of the race bunching up the field one final time. He would master the restart and went on to win his first career Speedweek Northwest victory. Netto would also be crowned the 2018 Champion Racing Oil Speedweek Northwest champion. He is the thirty-ninth different driver to have won a Speedweek Northwest victory and fourteenth different champion.

John Carney, of El Paso, Texas and racing for car owner Clayton Snow, finished second while Burlington, Washington’s Jason Solwold, running for Monica Baca and Mike Anderson, was third. Grabbing fourth would be Penngrove, California teenager Michael Kofoid, in the Doug and Kathy Rutz machine, while the top five was completed with Justyn Cox, from Clarksburg, California, in fifth.

Qualifying was split into two groups with Jason Solwold and Lake Stevens, Washington native Austen Wheatley getting fast time of the night. Heat races were won by Cam Smith of Mill Creek, Washington, Harrisburg teenager Tyler Thompson, John Carney, and D.J. Netto.

Benicia, California driver Billy Aton was victorious in the consolation feature while D.J. Netto won the Trophy Dash to start on the pole. Aton would win the BC Motorsports/Highline Performance Passmaster Award for passing the most cars during the week during the features.
