Season begins with momentum and excitement!
Its been an exciting start to the 2019 racing season. Beginning in Daytona with a fun and exciting race weekend. More than 400 USAC quarter midgets were on hand to kick off the season. Colt started 3rd in his heat race and was passing for the lead when he hooked the bumper of the leader spinning him out. With not much time left in the race he could only get back to 5th putting him in the lower mains known as the "Alphabet Soup". He battled behind the wheel of the Dynamic Towing and Manufacturing machine all the way to the B main missing the feature by 1 spot. Great effort for his first time in the Junior Honda class.
Up next was the brand new indoor event on dirt known as the Appalachian Indoor Showdown. Hot Laps went well with more horsepower than race track. Hot lap times put him starting 3rd in the heat race, top 4 would transfer to the A Main. With more than 25 cars in his class and only 12 making the feature it was quite an accomplishment to transfer to the A Main. Colt lined up 10th, was running 5th about mid way and had to spin to avoid a car that was flipping in front of him. He would have to go to the tail and ended up 8th on the day.
The season opener at Millbridge Speedway proved to be Colt's best effort on dirt. It would only be the 5th time racing on a clay oval with 25 cars competing in the Beginner Box Stock Division. Colt hot lapped in the Factory Canopies machine to a 15th starting spot so the crew made a couple changes. Lining up 5th in heat race 3, Colt got a great start and also remained patient. The effort would see him winning that heat race. The A Main was a solid effort holding his ground and being scored officially on the podium in 2nd.
Next up is a new event at the Circuit of Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas for the USAC .25 Nationals. Cars are loaded and ready for a great experience!
