Chris Crowder Crowned POWRi Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprint Season Champion

Belleville, IL. (10/05/2020) Enduring the delayed and severely curbed 2020 racing season, the POWRi Lucas Oil Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprints would not be detoured with outstanding on-track accomplishments aplenty. After close on-track racing all year and finalization of the season points championship, top-notch open-wheel journeyman Chris Crowder would emerge as the season titleholder.

Visiting four unique Colorado tracks throughout the season with the Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprinters, Chris Crowder #26, of Colorado Spring Colorado, would flex his championship might by matching his two feature win year of 2019 and having consistency and poise when it mattered most. With the points battle tight and competition at nearly an all-time high with a full field of racers, Crowder would pull off the sweep in the final points race of the season winning both his heat and the feature event setting the stage for a championship banner.

Winning by a margin of only eighty-five points, Crowder would edge out the hot pursuit of runner-up finisher and resident of Denver Colorado #39 Dakota Dillin. Dillin raced his way up the standings this season by winning two feature events and placing repeatedly inside the top-ten. With a new season on the horizon, Dillin has proven to be a contender and gaining confidence every time he hits the racing surface.

Johnny Boos, of Lakewood Colorado, would lead the series in feature victories this year with seven features wins, tying his POWRi RMLS record-setting season last year. Boos, finishing third in the season standings in 2020, has proven to be a force up-front when in attendance by accumulating a series leading fourteen feature victories in the previous two POWRi sanctioned years.

Top Ten in 2020 POWRi RMLS Season Championship:

  1. Chris Crowder
  2. Dakota Dillin
  3. Johnny Boos
  4. Brady Balderson
  5. Josh Flood
  6. Andy Flood
  7. TJ Trengrove
  8. Gale Ingram
  9. Ryan Radar
  10. Josiah King

Completing and competing in fifteen separate green-flag feature events this season, the POWRi Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprint’s would see seven different drivers in victory lane as thirty-four competitors would log in for a battle in both wing and non-wing races. Next season preparations are already underway with many new tracks and competitors inquiring about this fast-paced and quickly growing fan-favorite series.

After a shortened yet grueling 2020 racing season, the POWRi Lucas Oil Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprints are now set to celebrate their on-track accomplishments throughout the year. Castlewood Grange in Centennial Colorado will host the awards ceremony on Saturday, November 7th at 6 PM. With a buffet dinner, live DJ, cash bar, and the awards ceremony, please RSVP via RMLS with the number of guests by October 14th if attendance is planned. Bonus awards for the season include most improved driver, best looking car, sportsmanship, and hard luck award; recipients all voted on by series members.
