POWRi Triple Header Preview

Belleville, IL. (10/12/2020) The POWRi Season Championship is set to ended in the state of Oklahoma for what was supposed to be the second year in a row, but last year’s championship night ended in a rainout. October 15-17 the POWRi Lucas Oil National and West Midget Leagues will visit two different racetracks for three nights of racing.

Thursday, October 15th at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, OK. is where all the action will begin. Port City Raceway will host all the excitement of a National Midget event but with a twist. Fifty-Five laps to determine the winner with a top-paying prize of $5,555, the inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Sooner-State 55.

Looking ahead at Friday and Saturday, October 16&17 will hold the 16th Annual Charlene Meents Memorial presented by Priority Aviation at I-44 Riverside Speedway, offering a variety of products or certificates for entrants. With hard-charger bonuses, high-point rewards, and other extras on the line for competitors, additional winnings continue to add to the racing festivities.

One of the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League regulars who are speculated to be in attendance is the POWRi West Midget League season points leader, Andrew Felker. Felker pilots the Chad Shields Racing, MelMark Pipe & Supply, Ripper/Fontana No. 44S. He has one win on the 2020 season, 8 top five finishes and 13 top ten. Felker is no stranger to winning at Port City Raceway or I-44 Speedway. He is a victor at both tracks in the 2019 season and at I-44 on July 18th this season. Felker has ultimately wrapped up the POWRi West Championship and just needs to keep his nose clean for the upcoming races.

Another driver who is sitting well in season points with the POWRi Lucas Oil National and West Midget leagues is Jake Neuman. Neuman leads the POWRi National Points into the three-day race weekend and sits behind Felker in the second position for the POWRi West season points. Neuman’s best finish at either track this season came at Port City Raceway with a fourth-place finish back in May for the Turnpike Challenge.

Third in overall standings for the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League, and a rookie is Tristin Thomas of Burlington, WA. Thomas pilots the Rudeen Racing #26 and has four top five and eight top ten finishes in only fifteen starts this season with the POWRi West Midgets. Thomas’ best finishes this season came to him at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Speedway in Pevely, MO. resulting in a second-place finish.

Several other front runners are looking for prime results this coming weekend at the triple header weekend. Such as Trey Gropp of Lincoln, NE. who is 4th in West standings. Chance Morton of Coweta, OK. who sits fifth and Trey Marcham of New Castle, OK. who sits sixth in season points for POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League.
