Alan Truscinski and Dexter Dvergsten Gain POWRi MKLS Weekend Wins at Greenbush
Belleville, IL. (9/6/2021) Celebrating the Labor Day weekend with a double-dose of Greenbush Race Park adrenaline rushes, the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints would get two shots at tackling the finely prepared venue for wing-to-wing battles. Flying through the field on Saturday night’s feature would find Alan Truscinski earning the victory with Sunday’s celebration going to Dexter Dvergsten.
Showing speed for the entire first night at Greenbush Race Park with the POWRi MKLS, Kelsi Pederson and Alan Truscinski would grab the heat racing wins to set up an action-packed feature event.
Feature racing would find the tricky track besting several competitors as the early speedsters set upon their journeys to the front of the field. With Kelsi starting fourth and Alan fifth, the pair would race wheel-to-wheel nearly every lap with Truscinski earning the slightest of advantages. Alan Truscinski would earn his third feature victory on the season and fourth over the previous two POWRi MKLS seasons.
Holding on to place runner-up, Kelsi Pederson would hold off the battling efforts of Garrison Miller who would notch his career-best finish of third. Returning to form Dan Wiskow would place fourth with Kate Taves hard-charging her way past five other competitors to round out the top-five POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprinters at Greenbush Race Park on Night One.
Night two would find the same high-flying, wing-to-wing racing as the previous night with several drivers wanting a rematch with the complicated surfaces of Greenbush Race Park. From the agony of defeat rolling on Night One to the thrill of victory on Night Two would witness Dexter Dvergsten wheel his way to his series-leading thirteenth feature win of the season.
Taking the lead early Alex Truscinski appeared to be on a mission leading the first eight laps as Night One winner Alan Truscinski would pass his son and spend the next seven revolutions at the front. With five laps remaining Dvergsten would use momentum to go past the leader and hold on until the final checkers waved. Notching his twenty-first career feature victory Dexter Dvergsten is now the all-time leader in wins within POWRi Lightning Sprint racing.
Finishing close-behind in a late-race restart would witness Alex Truscinski placing runner-up with Alan Truscinski finishing third. Kelsi Pederson would find speed late in the feature to place fourth as Weston Olson hard-charged his way past five other drivers to round out the POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints top-five finishers at Greenbush Race Park for Night Two.
