John Carney II Nets Pair Of Podium Finishes In ASCS Regional Competition at Jackson Motor Speedway

EL PASO, Texas (April 14, 2016) Teaming up with John James has been a successful partnership thus far for John Carney II, as the pairing has netted four straight podiums, including a pair of wins since joining forces on April 1 at the Southern New Mexico Speedway.

Adding his most recent podium finishes this past weekend with the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works and the Lucas Oil ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints, Carney and the J.C. Farm and Ranch No. 4j team made their first trip to the Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss.

“You know how this deal goes, the luck of the draw in pretty critical, and I had a good start on Friday. With the starts moved more on the front straight, the guy in front of me messed up on the start, and that moved me outside the front row and I was able to win that,” said Carney.

“That put us in the redraw where we drew third, but that track was weird. It had plenty of bite going down the straight-a-ways but the corners were like going through sand pits so we were a shade loose in the Main and actually back up a little bit, but we were able come back. We slide Tommy Bryant right there at the end and went from fourth to third and that worked out really good to get us locked into Saturday.”

Drawing the pole of Saturday’s feature event, the start was not what Carney had in mind.

“I picked the front end up on the start and that let Andy [McElhannon] get away and I actually backed up to fourth. The car was a lot better on Saturday but driver wise, I was a shade off but I just kept patient and kept trying and changing things before we finally had to settle on the bottom at the end. The late restarts is really what help me because Aaron [Reutzel] was going for the win and he hit the wall, and it allowed me to sneak by in the process to get back to second.”

Taking the weekend off, Carney and the John James Racing No. 4j will return to competition with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan. on Friday, April 22 and Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo. on Saturday, April 23.
