GLSS-Great Lakes Super Sprints

CELEBRATING 7TH SEASON

Merrill, MI – This year Great Lakes Super Sprints presented by Engine Pro and ARP is celebrating our 7th season with 11 double header weekends and 2 single race weekends at 11 different tracks in Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. With a late Easter weekend this year, we moved our opener to the 3rd weekend of April, giving everyone time to look for Easter Eggs before we tear into the season!

We roll into I-96 Speedway on Friday, April 22nd for our opening weekend and then travel up the road to Crystal Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 23rd for night two. A great way to kick off the season, with two of our favorite tracks.

We have one TBA that we are still working on for Friday, April 29th to go along with our 2nd trip to Wayne County Speedway outside of Orrville, OH on Saturday, April 30th. Last year, we took 22 cars to Wayne County, but a late afternoon rain cancelled the race. We’ve already put our order in for a nicer weekend this year!

The first weekend of May we take off and get ready for our next big double header weekend on May 13th and 14th. We roll into I-96 Speedway for TC Powersports Night. TC Powersports (Michigan Center, MI) has added to our purse making the 13th a $3,000 to win night, with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th paying $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000 respectively. Saturday, the 14th, we will travel to Chicagoland and make our first ever visit to Route 66 Raceway, sponsored by PERFit for the same $3,000 to win purse as Friday night.

Memorial Weekend, we roll into Hartford Motor Speedway on Friday, May 27th for the first of 4 visits this year. On Saturday, May 28th we head North for our second visit to Crystal Motor Speedway.

We kick off June with the 1st Annual Full Throttle Sprint Car Nationals on June 3rd and 4th at I-96 Speedway. With two big nights of sprint car racing featuring GLSS wings and the non wings of Great Lakes Traditional Sprints and the Buckeye Outlaw Sprints Series. More details to come on this big weekend!

Friday, June 24th we make our second visit to Hartford Motor Speedway for night one and then we travel back to Ohio for our first of two visits to “The Track that Action Built”, Fremont Speedway on Saturday, June 25th.

Fourth of July weekend, we start out at I-96 Speedway on Friday, July 1st. Then travel south to “The Battle Grounds” of Butler Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 2nd for our first of 2 visits this season.

Friday, July 8th we make our first ever visit to Winston Speedway near Montague, MI. This will be the first time full sized winged sprints have visited Winston since 2016. This will be a great night for fans on the west side of the state to kick off their weekend at the races then blow off steam at the sand dunes the rest of the weekend!

Friday, July 15th we visit Hartford Motor Speedway! Mark your calendars and don’t miss this one! Both Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS) and Great Lakes Traditional Sprints (GLTS) will be making their only visit together on the big oval at Hartford. This is always a fun night, seeing two opposite classes of sprint cars take the track: Winged vs Non Wing! Which is your favorite?

The last weekend of July, we resume our double header weekends. We start out Friday, July 29th at I-96 Speedway and then pack up and head back to Fremont, Ohio and visit Fremont Speedway on Saturday, July 30th for our last visit of the season.

We kick off August traveling to the center of Michigan for a visit to Mt Pleasant Speedway on Friday, August 5th. Mt Pleasant hosted the first ever GLSS show in 2016 and is always a fun track and always feels like coming home. Then on Saturday, August 6th we travel straight east for our first ever visit to the Silver Bullet Speedway near Owendale, MI. The last time winged sprints visited the Bullet ten years ago, our own Gregg Dalman (49t) won.

The third weekend of August is a weekend of lasts. The last time at I-96 Speedway on Friday, August 19th and the last time at Butler Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 20th, for the 2022 Season. Both tracks are racey and both will satisfy your sprint car sweet tooth!

We will wrap up our Points Championship on Labor Day weekend. We start out the weekend on Friday, September 2nd at Hartford Motor Speedway. Then we crown the new 2022 Champion at Crystal Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 3rd. Crystal will wrap up our points race, but we will also be participating in the Canadian Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway the weekend of September 17th and 18th.
